Blog Post #7- "Research Memo"

When using the EBSCOhost database, I found a source that focuses on outdoor exercising and its effect on relieving stress in comparison to exercising indoors.  It addresses the fact that nature plays a role in the effectiveness of exercising and its role in relieving stress and getting away from the demands of work.   These beliefs were tested and evaluated in a study done which is explained in my source.  This source is a scholarly article which was written by Kalevi Korpela and Ulla Kinnunen from the Department of Psychology at the University of Tampere which is located in Finland.  One of the quotes that I would pull from this article is a statement about some of their findings from the study.   “Exercise and being outdoors during free-time was evaluated as the most effective activity for recovery from work stress, with time spent in interacting with nature mentioned as second.”  This quote can be used to support my claim of the Arboretum serving as a source of stress relief.  There were many options to choose from that were provided for me by the database, but this source stood out because of its credibility and research to back it up.
